About The Position

The Department of Design & Construction, Division of Infrastructure, is seeking Junior Engineers to join their Design Unit. Successful candidates will receive hands-on training and contribute to various engineering tasks, from moderate to complex. Responsibilities include conducting research studies, engineering investigations, and assessments. They will also perform civil engineering tasks of moderate complexity under supervision. The scope of work and training covers areas such as design, drafting, engineering investigations, cost estimation, specification writing, structural calculations, field surveys, and design-related site inspections. All candidates must be authorized to work full-time in the U.S. and present original documents proving citizenship or legal right to work. DDC cannot support or sponsor any visa applications or extensions. Educational credentials must be from a U.S. Department of Education-recognized accredited institution, with foreign credentials requiring equivalency verification.

Requirements

  • Permanent in the Civil Engineer Intern title, reachable on open-competitive exam #5047, or have filed for open-competitive exam #6116.
  • A baccalaureate degree in civil engineering from an accredited college.
  • Currently authorized to work full-time in the United States (U.S.).
  • Must present original documents proving citizenship or the legal right to work in the U.S. when an employment offer is made.
  • Educational credentials must be from a U.S. Department of Education-recognized accredited institution.

Nice To Haves

  • A degree in any other engineering area or in civil engineering technology is not acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research studies, engineering investigations, and assessments related to various engineering functions.
  • Carry out civil engineering tasks of moderate complexity under the supervision of an Engineer-In-Charge.
  • Participate in design, drafting, engineering investigations, cost estimation, specification writing, structural calculations, conducting field surveys, and design-related site inspections.
