About The Position

The Department of Design & Construction, Division of Infrastructure, is currently seeking a Junior Engineer to join our Coastal Resiliency - Construction team. The successful candidate will be provided with hands-on training and will contribute to a range of engineering tasks, from moderate to complex. Responsibilities include construction inspection, construction management, engineering investigations, and assessments related to various engineering functions. Additionally, the candidate will carry out civil engineering tasks of moderate complexity under the supervision of an Engineer-In-Charge and/or Resident Engineer. The scope of work and training encompasses one or more of the following specialized areas: construction management, engineering investigations, cost estimation, specification interpretation, engineering calculations, conducting field inspections, and participating in contract negotiations and dispute resolutions.

Requirements

  • Only candidates who are permanent in the Civil Engineering Intern title, or those who filed for the open-competitive exam #6116 may apply.
  • Must include a copy of your Notice of Results or indicate if you are currently permanent in the title.
  • Must be currently authorized to work full-time in the United States (U.S.).
  • Must have proper work authorization when an employment offer is made.
  • A baccalaureate degree in civil engineering from an accredited college.
  • A degree in any other engineering area or in civil engineering technology is not acceptable.

Nice To Haves

  • ACI Concrete Field -Testing Certified or take the first available DDC-offered training session.
  • OSHA 10-hour Certified or take the first available DDC-offered training session.
