The Junior Embedded Software Designer will play a crucial role in supporting the development of embedded software for an upcoming automotive project. This position is tailored for a new graduate engineer possessing a strong foundation in embedded C, microcontroller-based systems, and a keen interest in growing within the automotive sector. The engineer will operate under the guidance of senior engineers, contributing to various stages of the embedded software lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, and debugging activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Solid foundational knowledge of embedded systems and electronic components.
  • Proficiency in C programming for embedded applications; exposure to assembly language and real-time operating systems is an asset.
  • Understanding of embedded software development concepts, including low-level drivers, hardware interaction, and constrained systems.
  • Strong motivation, a proactive attitude, and effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and adapt in a fast-paced development environment.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of experience (including internships or academic projects) across phases of the software development lifecycle.
  • Working experience or strong familiarity with Linux-based development environments.
  • Exposure to multimedia systems, such as video, audio, signal processing, or compression technologies.
  • Experience or academic exposure to camera systems and Image Signal Processing (ISP).
  • Hands-on experience with development and collaboration tools (e.g., Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, JIRA, Azure DevOps).
  • Understanding of Agile development methodologies.
  • Awareness of static code analysis tools, code coverage metrics, and unit test development techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the full embedded software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, software architecture and detailed design, embedded software implementation, unit and integration test development, and software verification and validation.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Hardware, Mechanical, Product, Software Project Engineering, and Systems Engineering.
  • Support the development and implementation of new features on automotive embedded platforms, such as bring-up and integration of cameras, SoCs, sensors, chipsets, and low-level drivers.
  • Participate in code reviews, effort estimation, and project planning activities.
  • Actively contribute to process improvement initiatives and ensure adherence to software development and compliance standards.
  • Identify, analyze, triage, and help resolve complex hardware and software issues during development and integration.
