About The Position

This position will provide Electrical Engineering support to the Unmanned Mission Control Station (UMCS) AIRWorks Team in support of Work Package Development for U.S. Navy Aircraft Carriers (CVN) and Shore installation sites. The Electrical Engineer is responsible for providing expertise and technical leadership to support the concept development, prototype integration, installation, analysis, test & evaluation, and deployment of UMCS. Work Package development includes reviewing and updating GFI packages, supporting SOVT planning and requirements compliance, planning for shipboard industrial test procedures, reviewing SWAP-C budgets, supporting trade studies, reviewing electrical engineering drawings, creating Liaison Action Requests for cable design changes, conducting trade studies for electrical and cable discrepancies, and maintaining Size, Weight, and Power (SWAP) analysis for electrical components. The role involves applying engineering rigor to system installation requirements, design, development, verification planning, sustainment planning, and analysis of various hardware and software systems. Tasks include supporting trade studies, shipboard surveys, and working with government and industry personnel. The engineer will also support the UMCS Engineering Lead and Project Lead with analysis and review of UMCS systems/subsystem integration/installation requirements, specifications, SWAP-C budgets, ICDs, installation guidance, alternative installation approaches, SOVT planning, RCM, and documenting Risk, Issues, and Opportunities (RIO).

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Engineering.
  • Less than three (3) years of experience related to the functional duties for the labor category.
  • Secret Clearance required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Electrical Engineering support to the Unmanned Mission Control Station (UMCS) AIRWorks Team for Work Package Development for U.S. Navy Aircraft Carriers (CVN) and Shore installation sites.
  • Provide expertise and technical leadership for concept development, prototype integration, installation, analysis, test & evaluation, and deployment of UMCS.
  • Review and update GFI packages (Installation Guidance Instructions, drawing packages, installation packages, and Interface Control Documents (ICD)).
  • Support development of UMCS System of System (SoS) System Operational Verification Test (SOVT) planning and requirements compliance matrix for shipboard industrial/stage testing.
  • Support planning for Shipboard Stage 1-5 Industrial test procedures and execution.
  • Review and edit SWAP-C budgets for Unmanned Aviation Warfare Center (UAWC) and ancillary equipment.
  • Support trade studies of physical implementation solutions.
  • Conduct reviews of electrical engineering drawings across all UMCS systems.
  • Create Liaison Action Requests (LARs) for cable design changes, as necessary.
  • Conduct trade studies to solve electrical and cable discrepancies, as required.
  • Maintain Size, Weight, and Power (SWAP) analysis for various electrical components.
  • Apply engineering rigor and electrical engineering processes in support of system installation requirements definition, design and development, verification planning, sustainment planning, review of modeling and simulation assumptions and analysis, review supportability plans, and analysis of interoperability requirements across a wide range of hardware and software systems for ship, shore and mobile based UMCS systems.
  • Support trade studies, including review of technical products and developing/delivering associated technical briefs and products.
  • Support shipboard surveys and collect data in support of UMCS modification.
  • Work with Government and Industry engineering, product support, manufacturing and program manager personnel, including technical experts from various DoD entities.
  • Support UMCS Engineering Lead and Project Lead with analysis and review of UMCS systems/subsystem integration/installation requirements, specifications, SWAP-C budgets, and ICDs.
  • Support review of requirements and guidance of UMCS installation/integration guidance, ICDs, and installation work packages.
  • Support review of alternative installation approaches.
  • Support development and review of UMCS SOVT planning and RCM for shipboard industrial/stage testing.
  • Review deliverables to ensure appropriate level of technical rigor.
  • Document Risk, Issues, and Opportunities (RIO) for ship, shore, and test transportable systems.
