About The Position

GDIT is seeking Junior Distribution Systems Engineers to support an ongoing BIM contract. This position is on-site at Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam, Hawaii, requiring the candidate to reside in the Honolulu area for daily on-site project support. No travel pay is associated with this position. The Junior DS Engineer will support the basic installation of equipment and infrastructure for the BIM contract, including rack and stack of new network equipment, installation and activation of UPS and PDUs, APs, patch panels, and associated CAT-6 cabling. They will assist in installing new or upgraded technologies under the guidance of experienced team members, document fieldwork findings, and report issues affecting project progress to senior staff. The role also involves supporting equipment assessments, participating in training sessions, maintaining positive customer interactions, following instructions for peer task reviews, communicating daily with team members, assisting with coordinating site access and equipment readiness with Government Points of Contact (POCs), supporting the project manager with basic stakeholder communication, providing technical input for ISP/OSP activities, and participating as a member of small implementation teams.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant Engineering discipline or 2+ years of related experience.
  • Active Secret Level Clearance required.
  • Security+ CE Certification.
  • Familiarity with distribution systems (ISP/OSP) design and Implementation documents such as – Design documentation, As-built diagrams, rack elevations and circuit connectivity matrices.
  • Familiar with all aspects of fiber testing.
  • Thorough understanding of Wired and General IT functions.

  • Update network documentation and as‑built records based on splicing and testing results.
  • Contribute to the development of deliverables by preparing drafts or collecting required information.
  • Follow quality assurance processes to ensure accuracy in project outputs.
