About The Position

The Junior Drawing Reviewer is responsible for reviewing shop drawings and erection drawings for presentation/constructability quality to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established drawing standards prior to release for fabrication or field use. Working under the direction of the Drawing Quality Manager, the Junior Drawing Reviewer verifies that drawings clearly communicate all required information needed for fabrication and erection while maintaining consistency with company standards and detailing best practices.

Requirements

  • At least two (2) years related experience in the coordination of structural steel projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret shop, construction, and design drawings.
  • General understanding and knowledge of basic drafting skills, 3D modeling software/Tekla practices, fabrication and erection standards, standard technical terminology, common structural steel practices, and drafting room procedures.
  • Understanding of dimensioning practices, weld symbols, and fabrication drawing requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify errors or inconsistencies in technical drawings.
  • Personal Computer; phone; Computer Software includes: MS Windows 11, MS Office Word, Excel, and Outlook; Bluebeam Revu, Tekla Structures, et al.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree or higher, and/or training from an approved and accredited technical school in engineering or detailing/drafting may substitute for the required experience.
  • Experience with structural steel shop drawings, erection drawings, or construction detailing preferred.
  • Familiarity with detailing software and drawing standards is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review shop drawings and erection drawings to ensure clarity, completeness, and adherence to internal quality standards.
  • Verify that drawings contain all required dimensions and information necessary for fabrication and erection.
  • Confirm that running dimensions are properly applied and clearly shown.
  • Ensure all required dimensions are present, accurate, and logically placed to support fabrication and assembly.
  • Verify that all part marks are clearly shown, properly labeled, and consistently referenced throughout the drawings.
  • Confirm that weld symbols are correctly specified, accurate, and clearly displayed in accordance with drawing standards.
  • Ensure proper naming and classification of main member worktypes.
  • Verify that drawing formatting, labeling, and annotation follow company detailing standards.
  • Identify drawing discrepancies, omissions, or quality concerns and communicate findings to the detailing team for correction.
  • Provide clear and constructive feedback to help improve drawing quality.
  • Follow established drawing review procedures and checklists.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying recurring quality issues and suggesting improvements to drawing standards.
  • Clearly communicate/document relevant issues and collaborate with all upstream and downstream stakeholders.
