About The Position

Best Logistics Group is seeking a motivated Junior Software Developer to join our Information Technology team. This position offers an opportunity to work with a variety of technologies while developing applications, integrations, and automated solutions that improve business operations across our organization. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of basic software development principles, experience working with Microsoft SQL Server, and familiarity with source code repositories and version control. We are particularly interested in someone who embraces modern development tools, including artificial intelligence (AI), to assist with coding, troubleshooting, and problem-solving. This position will work alongside experienced developers and IT professionals on projects involving application development, data integration, business process automation, and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI). We are looking for someone who is curious, motivated, resourceful, and enjoys solving problems. Requirements

Foundational knowledge of software development concepts, programming logic, and application design.
Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including writing SQL queries and working with relational databases.
Familiarity with source code repositories and version control practices, preferably Git.
Understanding of basic development practices, including testing, debugging, documentation, and code maintenance.
Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, or similar platforms.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team.
Good communication skills, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn new technologies.

Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), including common transaction formats such as X12.
Microsoft 365 / Office 365 development and integrations.
Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps and Power Automate.
PowerShell scripting and automation.

Experience developing applications or integrations in transportation, logistics, or related industries.

Responsibilities

Assist in designing, developing, testing, and maintaining applications and integrations supporting business operations.
Write and maintain Microsoft SQL Server queries, stored procedures, and other database-related solutions.
Utilize source code repositories and version control tools, such as Git, to manage development projects.
Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity, troubleshoot issues, and explore solutions while following company security and development standards.
Assist with EDI integrations, data mapping, and troubleshooting electronic transactions with customers and business partners.
Support existing applications, investigate reported issues, and implement enhancements.
Collaborate with developers, IT team members, and business departments to understand requirements and develop practical solutions.
Create and maintain technical documentation for applications, integrations, and processes.
Participate in application testing, debugging, and deployment activities.
Research new technologies and identify opportunities to improve existing processes through development and automation.
