About The Position

Are you excited by the idea of building real-world software that makes an impact? At CGI, we’re looking for a motivated and curious entry-level Software Developer to help enhance and modernize Sunflower, a large property management system used by a major government agency. You’ll collaborate with a high-energy team as we transition from legacy technologies to a modern platform built with Java, Angular, microservices, and an Oracle database. This is an excellent opportunity to grow your web application skills, learn new technologies, and contribute to meaningful work while supported by a team that values creativity, collaboration, and continuous learning. This position is located in one of CGI Federal's offices in Fairfax, VA, Lebanon, VA, Lafayette, LA or Knoxville, TN; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable. You will be required to work in a CGI Federal office two days per week.

Requirements

  • Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearance requirements, US citizenship is required as well as successful passing of CGI background check prior to beginning work. In addition, candidates must have ability to obtain and maintain a DHS/CISA EOD/Public Trust clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
  • At least 1 year of hands-on experience with Java, PLSQL, JavaScript, Angular, or Oracle databases (internships and academic projects are welcome!)
  • A positive, proactive attitude with strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic Agile team
  • Eagerness to learn new tools, technologies, and practices

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with web application development or product teams
  • Familiarity with Spring Framework or Angular
  • Knowledge of Oracle databases
  • Consulting experience or exposure to Agile environments
  • Understanding of personal property management concepts

Responsibilities

  • Develop and review application code using Java, PLSQL, and JavaScript
  • Take part in daily team discussions, code reviews, and collaborative problem-solving
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies across the full development lifecycle
  • Share technical insights with clients, end users, and team members
  • Help design and estimate new features and enhancements
  • Improve development tools, write automated tests, and contribute to architectural upgrades
