About The Position

Harding Loevner is seeking a Junior Data Engineer & Application Support Associate to join its Data Strategy & Automation team. The role supports day-to-day data operations and business applications, helping ensure reliable delivery of data and technology services across the organization. It combines application support, data pipeline and web application maintenance, reporting, issue investigation, and operational administration in support of the firm's technology and data platforms. Working closely with senior team members, the associate will gain hands-on experience across data and application support activities and develop technical expertise. The role is suited to a technically curious, analytical problem solver with up to three years of experience, and can provide a foundation for growth into data engineering, software engineering, or quantitative technology solutions.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Information Technology, or a related field.
0–3 years of experience in application support, data operations, business systems, or a related technical role.
Experience working with Python and AI coding applications such as Codex or Claude Code, GitHub, and SQL or related databases.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to document procedures and explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and support day-to-day operational requests in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Perform day-to-day administration of internally developed web applications and data tools.
Respond to user requests, troubleshoot issues, and provide first-line application support.
Investigate reported bugs, document findings, and coordinate resolutions with development teams.
Maintain application configurations, permissions, and user access.
Monitor application health and escalate issues when appropriate.
Assist with software releases, testing, and production deployments.
Monitor scheduled data pipelines and daily processing jobs.
Investigate failed jobs and perform routine troubleshooting.
Execute established operational procedures for pipeline support and data validation.
Coordinate with senior engineers on recurring issues and long-term improvements.
Perform routine maintenance to ensure reliable data delivery.
Document support procedures and maintain operational runbooks.
Track support requests and provide timely updates to stakeholders.
Identify recurring issues and recommend opportunities for process improvement.
Assist with user acceptance testing (UAT) and validation of application enhancements.
Support data quality checks and routine operational controls.
