Girl Scouts Of Northeast Texas•Palestine, TX
•Onsite

About The Position

The Junior Crew Member role is part of a four-week leadership and camp operations program for returning Laird campers who have successfully completed CIT 1 and CIT 2. The program bridges the gap between CIT 2 and future counselor opportunities through practical experience in camp operations, teamwork, communication, responsibility, and leadership. The program may operate as a June or July three-week session, and members must commit to the full three-week session. Participants live together in a dedicated Junior Crew cabin. Junior Crew Members learn how camp operates behind the scenes, support camp staff and activity leaders, contribute to camp traditions and morale, and develop as positive role models. They rotate through camp operations areas and take part in structured lessons, staff-shadowing opportunities, special projects, and camp traditions. The position reports to the Junior Crew Leader and the Camp Director and works in coordination with Unit Leaders, Activity Leaders, and other camp operations staff. Camp Bette Perot is an equestrian sleepaway camp for girls ages 7–16, serving approximately 150 campers per week. Camp life includes group living, shared meals, daily activities, chores, and rest. The camp is located near Palestine, Texas. The work takes place in a camp setting with long days, extensive outdoor activity, variable weather, and limited privacy and personal time. Required staff training is June 6–11, regardless of which session the member attends. Summer camp positions include meals when camp is in session, housing if applicable, and work experience. The role is seasonal and requires the successful completion of a criminal background check. This position requires female staff under the stated Bona Fide Occupational Qualification exception for youth in single-gender cabin and restroom settings.
