About The Position

This position is responsible for leading campers through daily activities while ensuring their safety and abiding by all rules set forth by camp directors. The role requires a desire and ability to work with children, both indoors and outdoors, and a willingness to participate in all daily camp activities with enthusiasm. The Junior Counselor will demonstrate patience and self-control, accept guidance and supervision, and assist in teaching or leading activities as assigned. They will also assist and mentor volunteer junior counselors, help ensure positive staff morale, and inform Senior Counselors or Camp Administrators of any camper and/or staff problems or concerns. The Junior Counselor must follow all camp rules and regulations, be knowledgeable about camper's health conditions and dietary restrictions, and be able to assist campers who may need extra time acclimating to camp. Ensuring all campers actively participate in the full camp experience and providing opportunities for each camper to have a positive experience is crucial. The role involves enforcing camp safety rules and regulations, working effectively with other counselors and staff, and assisting campers in carpool before and after camp. Comfort with being in the pool and/or swimming with campers daily, as well as the ability to travel on field trips with campers, is also required.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work all Summer: May 19-August 8, 2026
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues and supervisory staffs at all levels.
  • Successful completion of the FDLE Background Screening.
  • Must have completed 10th grade.
  • Must have at least 1-year experience working with children.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in camp or child-care program.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certifications.
