About The Position

CP4 Inc., a subsidiary of Corrpro Canada, is a leading provider of cathodic protection engineering and technical solutions for the oil and gas industry in the US. The Field Technician will gain knowledge and experience on above-ground pipeline assessment and cathodic protection systems. This role focuses on collecting accurate field data, operating and maintaining testing equipment, and contributing to client reports and deliverables. This is a heavily field-based position, with approximately 80% of time spent in the field. The role involves regular travel, adherence to strict safety procedures, and working effectively in outdoor and industrial environments using company-provided technology and tools. The ideal candidate is dependable, willing to learn, and comfortable working outdoors in a field environment. They follow direction well, work safely, and support senior staff with hands-on tasks. This individual is a positive team player, adaptable to changing job sites, and motivated to gain experience and develop new skills in an active, field-based role. Both Permanent and Temporary contract positions are available. Houston, TX-based candidates are preferred; however, qualified candidates from other locations are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Class A, B, or CDL Driver’s License with clean record

Nice To Haves

  • Technical school degree or diploma in Engineering or Environmental Services
  • Coursework or Associates in Corrosion Technology
  • AMPP CP1 + certification
  • AMPP CP Tester Certification
  • 1-year experience in corrosion control, protective coatings and cathodic protection monitoring
  • Above Ground Surveying and/or GPS experience
  • ATV, argo, etc. experience
  • OSHA certifications
  • First Aid, H2S, WHMIS, PST

Responsibilities

  • Assist with testing and installation of cathodic protection systems to help prevent corrosion on different structures
  • Assist with basic field inspection and monitoring activities related to pipeline integrity, including supporting overline survey work and ILI tracking, using company-provided tools, equipment, and technology under the direction of senior staff
  • Follow instructions and guidance from senior staff using customer drawings and specifications
  • Carry out basic test procedures to collect field data for review
  • Collect structure-to-soil readings, soil measurements, and rectifier information
  • Help sketch rectifiers, anodes, test stations, and other system components on prepared drawings
  • Support senior staff in preparing survey notes and final job reports
  • Sketch general site features to help document installation locations
  • Organize and summarize collected data; assist with preparing charts and tables
  • Help compile information for final client reports, including service recommendations
  • Maintain field testing equipment, keep tools in good working condition, and assist with minor repairs
