About The Position

JLL is seeking a Junior Controls Technician to join our team at a cutting-edge technology company in Hopkinton, MA. This role offers an exciting opportunity to advance your HVAC career by working with intelligent Building Automation Systems (BAS), particularly Johnson Controls platforms. As our Junior Controls Technician, you'll work at the forefront of smart building technology, collaborating with our controls team to maintain and implement state-of-the-art HVAC/BAS solutions that optimize energy efficiency and occupant comfort. You'll report to the Controls Technician Lead and contribute to building management solutions that make a real difference in how modern facilities operate.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus trade school or apprenticeship in HVAC
  • 5+ years of experience in electronic control systems and HVAC equipment
  • Valid driver's license
  • Strong understanding of HVAC principles and electronic/digital control systems
  • Ability to develop control logic and implement energy management strategies
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work in various physical environments and handle equipment up to 50 pounds
  • Experience with CMMS systems and industry-specific software applications
  • Experience with Johnson Controls systems

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in HVAC technology or equivalent trade experience
  • Knowledge of various electronic/digital control systems and industry protocols (BACnet, Modbus)
  • Familiarity with biopharmaceutical GMP environments
  • Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP)
  • Power monitoring system experience

Responsibilities

  • Develop control logic for HVAC systems and implement energy trending and analysis
  • Operate and troubleshoot sophisticated energy management equipment
  • Manage various BAS software applications, particularly Johnson Controls systems
  • Work with Controls Lead and IT to maintain REMBE requirements and eliminate system vulnerabilities
  • Collaborate with BAS control engineers and Controls Technician Lead to create tailored building management solutions
  • Develop and optimize programming logic for peak HVAC system performance
  • Diagnose and repair electronic control system issues
  • Work with industry protocols including BACnet and Modbus
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders and clients
  • Evaluate and propose innovative approaches to HVAC and electrical challenges
  • Consult with clients to address operational challenges and propose system enhancements
  • Provide training on BAS operations and document job completions, training sessions, and system recommendations
