About The Position

GFL Environmental is seeking a Junior Business Analyst to join their expanding team in Vaughan, ON. This role is part of the Treasury & Shared Services – Business Process & Special Projects team and operates in a hybrid capacity. The Junior Business Analyst will focus on supporting the Senior Business Analyst in enhancing efficiency and standardization across departments like Collections, Cash Applications, CDE, and Billing. Additionally, they will manage the organization's credit card portfolio and merchant services program. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, eager to learn, and has the potential to manage initiatives independently.

Requirements

  • Progressive experience working autonomously, taking initiative, and adapting easily to daily challenges in a high-volume environment.
  • Post-Secondary Education in Business, Finance, or a closely related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) as well as Google Suite.
  • Strong critical thinking, sharp problem-solving, and analytical skills with the ability to analyze complex processes and data.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to manage multiple viewpoints.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and high attention to detail.
  • Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located is required.
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide valid documentation confirming their eligibility to work in the country where the job is located prior to their start date.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within Finance and/or Order-to-Cash (O2C) streams is preferred.
  • Experience with process mapping software such as LucidChart or Visio is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize process mapping techniques to document current-state and future-state processes and systems, and coordinate workshop sessions with appropriate teams to gather feedback and achieve alignment.
  • Support enterprise and department-led initiatives by representing Order-to-Cash (O2C) streams under the supervision of the Senior Business Analyst.
  • Independently lead minor initiatives to upgrade existing systems or features.
  • Independently and collaboratively gather, analyze, and document business requirements with clear acceptance criteria to facilitate development.
  • Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for process or system changes, identifying and documenting gaps while providing audit support as needed.
  • Draft and maintain preliminary training, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and communication materials to educate internal departments on upcoming changes.
  • Maintain accurate, organized records of the business’s credit card portfolio, terminal equipment, and meeting documentation.
  • Produce detailed monthly reporting and analysis on credit card fees and sales.
  • Facilitate and document credit card terminal deployments, swap replacements, and cancellations.
  • Act as the primary point of contact to answer inquiries and resolve issues related to credit card accounts, terminals, deposits, and other ad-hoc merchant inquiries.
  • Facilitate and document timely, cross-functional communications between internal and external stakeholders.
