About The Position

We are seeking a motivated Junior AWS Cloud Migration Engineer to join an active on-premises to AWS migration program in Atlanta, GA. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career cloud professional to gain real-world, hands-on migration experience working alongside seasoned AWS experts who will provide mentorship and guidance throughout the engagement. You will be embedded within the client's technical team, contributing directly to migration execution while developing your AWS skills in a structured, high-velocity environment.

Requirements

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate (required; candidates without this certification will not be considered)
  • 1–2 years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration, cloud support, or a related technical role
  • Working knowledge of AWS core services: EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, IAM, Route 53, CloudWatch
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts: DNS, subnetting, firewalls, and VPN
  • Familiarity with Windows Server and/or Linux system administration
  • Demonstrated ability to use AI tools (e.g., Amazon Q, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar) as part of your technical workflow
  • Ability and willingness to work on-site in Atlanta, GA on a regular basis
  • Comfortable with off-hours cutover windows and occasional weekend work during migration waves

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to AWS migration services: Application Migration Service (MGN), Database Migration Service (DMS), or Migration Hub
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code: Terraform or AWS CloudFormation
  • Experience with any scripting language: Python, Bash, or PowerShell
  • Exposure to database technologies: SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL
  • Additional AWS certifications (Cloud Practitioner, Developer Associate, etc.)
  • Experience using AI coding assistants or cloud AI tools in a professional or project setting

Responsibilities

  • Attend on-site at client datacenter and office locations in the Atlanta metro area for migration activities, cutovers, and team meetings
  • Support on-site coordination with datacenter staff, network engineers, and application owners under senior engineer guidance
  • Assist with physical datacenter inventory validation and rack-level documentation
  • Participate in discovery workshops alongside senior team members
  • Assist with workload discovery using AWS Application Discovery Service and related tools
  • Help document workload dependencies, configurations, and migration metadata
  • Support wave planning activities including risk and blocker tracking
  • Maintain and update migration tracking spreadsheets and project documentation
  • Support lift-and-shift migrations using AWS Application Migration Service (MGN) and Database Migration Service (DMS) under senior oversight
  • Assist with post-migration validation: connectivity checks, smoke testing, and basic performance verification
  • Help maintain accurate migration status in AWS Migration Hub and project dashboards
  • Assist with cutover activities, including participation in off-hours windows as needed
  • Document migration runbooks, standard operating procedures, and lessons learned
  • Keep migration trackers and status dashboards current
  • Contribute to continuous improvement discussions as you develop your skills
