About The Position

Thrive Family Law is a growing Colorado family law firm focused on client and team well-being, emphasizing dignity, respect, integrity, collaboration, and work-life balance. They are seeking a Junior Associate Attorney to assist with family law matters, collaborate with the team, and gain experience to eventually manage their own caseload. The role involves assisting on 20-30 active cases, with opportunities to be thoughtful about client selection due to a strong flow of new matters. The ideal candidate understands litigation fundamentals, desires courtroom experience, and will receive hands-on mentorship in family law strategy, negotiation, settlement, and litigation.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Active Colorado Bar license in good standing.
  • Some litigation background and demonstrated courtroom experience.
  • Strong legal research, writing, advocacy, and client communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

  • Mock trial experience or any other litigation experience.

  • Interest or experience in mediation or arbitration.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in divorce, parenting, child support, maintenance, property division, post-decree, and other family law matters.
  • Proactively participate in legal and litigation strategies based on each client's goals.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, settlement documents, and other legal filings.
  • Prepare for and appear at hearings, trials, status conferences, pretrial conferences, and discovery disputes.
  • Conduct discovery, depositions, witness preparation, exhibit review, and trial preparation.
  • Co-Counsel clients regarding case strengths, risks, options, and likelihood of success.
  • Identify creative opportunities to resolve cases through negotiation, mediation, arbitration, or settlement when appropriate.
  • Maintain strong client communication and appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, LLPs, experts, therapists, coaches, and other professionals when appropriate.
  • Participate in weekly team case reviews and strategic discussions.

  • Total compensation opportunity: $90,000–$110,000, depending on experience and performance.
  • Hybrid schedule, generally three days in-office and two remote.
