About The Position

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Junior Aircraft Mechanic to join its team. This position is located in Linthicum, Maryland. The role involves troubleshooting, repairing, and servicing aircraft and engine systems, diagnosing malfunctions, and performing maintenance in accordance with technical specifications, engineering instructions, and FAA regulations. The mechanic will also maintain FAA required records, manuals, and inspection forms.

Requirements

High school graduate or the equivalent.
Federal Aviation Administration Airframe and Power Plant Certificate required.
0-3 years experience as an aircraft mechanic in the military, industrial or commercial aviation field.
Must be current in the aviation field (worked in the field or obtained licensure within the previous 24 months) and possess an A&P license.
U.S. Citizenship is required for all positions with a government clearance and certain other restricted positions.

Responsibilities

Complete inspection, maintenance, modification and servicing of aircraft and ground support equipment using applicable maintenance manuals, technical directives, drawings, process specifications and oral/written instructions.
Maintain knowledge of aircraft structures, components, power plants, and mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
Certify all required work.
Schedule various operations according to the master schedule and follow all phases of schedule commitments.
Maintain current status of aircraft at all times and prepare status reports.
Notify supervision of schedule delays and problems encountered and make recommendations for resolution.
Answer inquiries concerning the status of aircraft and coordinate the performance of various tests.
Assist supervision in determining necessary ground support equipment, spare parts, and other equipment for aircraft support.
Devise and improvise necessary special tooling and equipment for aircraft maintenance.
Discuss functional requirements and problems with systems, components, and materials with supervision to resolve issues concerning modifications and maintenance.
Ensure all test equipment used is calibrated according to schedule.
Ensure compliance with all applicable federal government and civilian regulations pertaining to aircraft maintenance and modification.
Provide continuous training to aircrews in the use and care of aircrew life support and training or egress systems and associated life support equipment for non-related personnel prior to participating in flying activities on ground engine/systems operation.
Maintain accurate records of all actions taken or required on the aircraft in accordance with FAA and military regulations.
Perform inventory of all aircraft records and ensure aircraft records are current.
Prepare reports on items to be accomplished on aircraft.
Furnish personnel on the floor with necessary logs, regulations, inspection cards, and the like.
Prepare various periodic and special examination reports as required by company and government directives.
Order and maintain all publications applicable to various aircraft.
Maintain work area, hangar, ramp, shops, and ground support equipment in a clean and orderly fashion.
Perform other miscellaneous duties which may fall within the scope of this position.
