About The Position

Freudigman & Billings is seeking a full-time Junior Instructor to join our Admissions Test Prep team. The role focuses on helping students prepare for standardized tests like the ACT and SAT, with a welcome for experience in other tests such as ISEE, SSAT, MCAT, GMAT, GRE, and/or LSAT. This is an on-site position located at our center in Westport, CT. The core of the role involves teaching students information processing, self-monitoring, critical thinking, and problem-solving strategies rather than rote memorization. The goal is to equip students with effective methods for gathering, sequencing, tracking, and classifying information, thereby enhancing their reasoning, problem-solving, and inference skills. The position aims to foster capable, independent learners and build their confidence, extending beyond preparation for a single exam.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree, with an undergraduate transcript that demonstrates mastery within your field of study
  • Computer savvy, exceptional communication skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to thrive and demonstrate confidence in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Reliable transportation

Nice To Haves

  • Background and interest in helping students prepare for the ACT and SAT
  • Experience with the ISEE, SSAT, MCAT, GMAT, GRE, and/or LSAT
  • Tutoring experience or an interest in pursuing a career in the field of education
  • Understanding that while this is primarily a Test Prep position, most instructors carry a small volume of Subject Tutoring sessions

Responsibilities

  • Meet one-on-one with a cohort of students to teach test prep skills, averaging approximately 24-28 instructional hours per week
  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with students and families throughout the test preparation process
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of client information
  • Collaborate with the Test Prep Leadership Team in order to execute specific plans for each student
  • Interact with instructors from different departments, including Educational Therapy, Academic Instruction, and College Advising, in order to provide coordinated support for students in your cohort
  • Attend Test Prep related meetings and development opportunities
