We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Junior Accountant to join the accounting team. The ideal candidate will excel in a professional and team-oriented environment. Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting combined with two or more years of related experience or training in accounting procedures, specifically in a law firm setting.
  • Must have the ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries and complaints and possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • The Junior Accountant must use the utmost discretion in all aspects of the job.
  • Must have experience in Aderant Expert, Elite, or similar legal software.
  • Microsoft Office experience with proficiency in Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the daily operations of Accounts Payable, Banking, and Trust.
  • Ensures all incoming requests, communications, and correspondence from the Northeast group are promptly addressed.
  • Reconciles trust and operating bank accounts daily to identify incoming electronic payments or debits.
  • Supports the management of client trust accounts by ensuring transactions are completed and recorded in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Processes vendor invoices and expense reimbursements.
  • Assists with accounts receivable tracking and follow-ups.
  • Monitors unapplied and on-account fee/disbursement balances and communicates with the Billing Coordinator on the monthly application against outstanding WIP and AR.
  • Maintains the electronic imaging system (Expert Image) up to date.
  • Completes sales and use tax filings for NY/NJ offices.
  • Provides management with regular status reports on daily balances and transactions.
  • Assist management with ad-hoc reporting or reconciliations for the regional offices.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned.
