About The Position

Dorchester County Public Schools is seeking a Judy Center Early Learning Hub Family Services Coordinator at Choptank Elementary School. This role focuses on a strength-based, family-driven approach to support families with children from birth to five years old, promoting child development and school readiness. The coordinator will work with families to set goals, partner with community agencies, and implement programs. This is a grant-funded position contingent upon grant renewal.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood, Education, Special Education, Human Services, Social Work, or related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Judy Center Early Learning Hub concept/Component Standards, early childhood development, and curriculum for children birth through age five.
  • Knowledge of Judy Center operations and ability to communicate effectively with community agencies, staff, children, and families.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software and other related computer technology.
  • Ability to work nonstandard hours, including evenings and/or weekends.
  • Ability to travel to homes, schools, and offices throughout the system and state-wide.
  • Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to obtain, collect, and organize pertinent data in a usable format for analysis and reporting.
  • Experience and effective management in coordinating services and collaborating with multiple agencies/service providers.
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to relate positively to colleagues, children, and families to establish and maintain trusting relationships.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and follow through with tasks.
  • Ability to work under pressure and make decisions in accordance with laws, ordinances, regulations, and established procedures.
  • Experience working with culturally diverse communities and families.
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License and reliable, insured vehicle.
  • Ability to work for long periods of time while standing and/or walking.
  • Ability to perform lifting up to 50 lbs. and carrying equipment.
  • Sufficient mobility to move around playgroup space to interact with children.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain high ethical standards and confidentiality regarding students and families.
  • Collect and organize data for grant performance goals in collaboration with coordinators.
  • Maintain confidential case management records, including intakes, needs surveys, referrals, and goal setting.
  • Advise families on available services and assist in resolving barriers like transportation and childcare.
  • Follow up with families to coordinate connections to services.
  • Obtain and distribute informational brochures to parents.
  • Collaborate with the Site Program Manager to facilitate home visiting programs and track progress.
  • Maintain an updated contact list of services and resources from partners and community agencies.
  • Develop strategies for program visibility and expansion, including community outreach and recruiting families and partners.
  • Assist with marketing efforts such as social media, newsletters, calendars, and flyers.
  • Maintain clear communication with the Judy Center Multi-Site Coordinator and Site Program Manager.
  • Attend and participate in Steering Committee and Parent Advisory Council meetings.
  • Co-chair monthly Service Coordination meetings to discuss program progress and family needs.
  • Coordinate services between Judy Center staff and community agencies, maintaining communication and documentation.
  • Advocate for Judy Center families by serving on the Dorchester Early Childhood Advisory Council and other committees.
  • Attend and participate in meetings, conferences, and training for professional learning.
  • Attend and participate in meetings with community partners, including IEP/IFSP and MTSS meetings.
  • Attend and participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Facilitate the implementation of the home visiting program, staying updated on changes and organizing materials.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Judy Center Component Standards, Maryland Early Learning Standards, and Maryland Family Engagement Framework.
  • Attend and participate in preparation for Maryland State Department of Education site monitoring visits.
  • Assist with the implementation of research-based playgroups for families.
  • Assist with the coordination of family engagement events, trainings, and outreach activities.
  • Assist with data collection and coordination of early intervention services (hearing, vision, dental screenings).
  • Perform other assigned duties.
