About The Position

The JROTC Instructor is responsible for teaching cadets using the JROTC Curriculum, formulating lesson plans, establishing curriculum goals, and providing necessary materials. This role also involves performing training during summer camps, evaluating cadet performance, providing counsel, and adhering to Army and school district rules. The instructor will employ various teaching techniques, organize extracurricular activities, maintain student records, and guide students in developing skills for responsible citizenship. Additionally, the instructor must abide by state statutes, ethical codes, and school board policies, attend meetings, protect students and equipment, and stay current on instructional practices.

Requirements

  • Must hold a valid Arkansas Teaching License with Certification in JROTC for Grades 7-12.
  • Must be a retired United States Army Commissioned Officer.
  • Must meet all the requirements approved by the Department of the Army.
  • Must possess instructional skills and techniques.
  • Must possess effective communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to motivate students.
  • Must clear the required background check.

Responsibilities

  • Teach cadets using the JROTC Curriculum by formulating lesson plans, establishing curriculum goals, and providing needed materials.
  • Perform training in JROTC and academy during summer camps.
  • Evaluate the performance of the cadets and provide counsel to cadets having problems meeting JROTC expectations.
  • Follow all the rules of the Army and school district when teaching and supervising cadets.
  • Employ different techniques and media in instructing students.
  • Organize and conduct extracurricular activities for the students.
  • Keep and maintain accurate records of their students.
  • Guide students in developing skills, knowledge and attitudes needed to become a responsible citizen.
  • Abide by state statutes, code of ethics, school board policies and regulations.
  • Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators and supervisors.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.
  • Remain current on instructional practices in education (e.g., instructional technology).
