Jr Systems / Software Safety Engineer
About The Position
i3 is searching for a Jr. Systems/Software Safety Engineer to join our team! The candidate will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of safety programs by working closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to identify, assess, and mitigate hazards throughout the system lifecycle. This role requires direct application of MIL-STD-882E principles to assist in conducting and documenting a variety of hazard analyses, to include developing and tracking mitigation measures according to the system safety design order of precedence. Development of safety documentation including Safety Assessment Reports, risk assessments, and safety incident root cause analysis required to functionally support the safety of product portfolio.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree (or Master’s) in Engineering (systems or safety) discipline and 0-3 years of relevant experience
- Basic knowledge of safety principles, regulations, and practices
- Experience carrying out hazard mitigation techniques
- Conducting risk analysis on weapons systems
- Must be a US citizen
- Must be a resident near Huntsville, AL, or be willing to relocate
- Must have a Secret security clearance
- Experienced with Microsoft Office products
- Able to think independently and be self-motivated
- Proven organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task and support varied assignments
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and client service skills; ability to clearly communicate in discussions and written documents, and to deliver feedback clearly and tactfully

Nice To Haves
- Experience with application of system safety policies within programs using agile software development, Model Based System Engineering and/or Air and Missile Defense systems
- Experience with JIRA/Confluence or MBSE tools (Cameo/MagicDraw)
- Knowledge of office administration and procedures
- Exceptional judgment capabilities and relationship management skills
