Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to explain technical information to non-technical users.
  • Working knowledge of Windows 10/11, Microsoft Office, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, basic networking, printer support, and PC hardware/software troubleshooting.
  • Ability to repair and troubleshoot desktops/laptops at an advanced support level, including component replacement, OS repair, driver issues, imaging, and endpoint recovery.
  • Basic understanding of RAID concepts, storage health indicators, disk failure symptoms, and proper escalation paths for server/storage issues.
  • Experience or working knowledge supporting Zebra label printers, network printers, barcode scanners, and plant-floor peripherals.
  • Understanding of support software and engineering/business applications, including CATIA, NX, ERP/MRP systems, Microsoft 365, and approved SaaS applications.
  • Ability to document repeatable processes clearly and maintain accurate technical records.
  • Ability to write and maintain basic PowerShell, Bash, or similar automation scripts.
  • Ability to prioritize help desk tickets, manage time effectively, and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university; or 0 to 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
  • Technical Training: Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, PC hardware repair, printer/Zebra printer support, basic networking, cybersecurity awareness, and basic server administration.
  • Work Experience: PC maintenance, Windows support, Microsoft 365 support, basic networking, Active Directory/Entra ID administration, printer support, support ticket handling, and shop-floor equipment support.
  • Minimum of 1 year related IT support experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • User Management: Onboard and offboard employees by creating, modifying, disabling, and removing accounts, permissions, group memberships, and access controls in Active Directory and/or Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Technical Support: Serve as a first line of support for end users by troubleshooting desktops, laptops, Microsoft 365 or other SaaS applications, peripherals, network printers, scanners, and general hardware/software issues.
  • Shop-Floor and Printer Support: Support shop-floor IT equipment, Zebra label printers, barcode scanners, network-attached printers, and related manufacturing peripherals used in daily operations.
  • Escalated Hardware Support: Apply Tier 3-level knowledge for PC repair, hardware diagnostics, component replacement, imaging, driver troubleshooting, OS repair, and endpoint recovery when required.
  • Server and Storage Support: Assist with routine server maintenance, patching, restart coordination, log reviews, backup verification, and basic RAID configuration awareness, including identifying failed disks and escalating storage issues properly.
  • Network Support: Assist with basic network troubleshooting, switch/access-port verification, connectivity checks, patch cable tracing, printer IP configuration, and coordination with network resources or outside contractors.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain IT documentation, including support procedures, network configurations, printer setup instructions, access request steps, and repeatable troubleshooting guides.
  • Automation: Write and maintain basic automation scripts using PowerShell, Bash, or approved scripting tools to reduce repetitive work and improve consistency.
  • Application Support: Provide basic support for business, manufacturing, and engineering applications such as Microsoft 365, ERP/MRP systems, CATIA, NX, and other support software used by the organization.
  • Understand and promote Magna’s philosophies, Employee’s Charter, safety expectations, and business management system requirements.
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain local area network equipment, workstations, laptops, printers, Zebra printers, scanners, and shop-floor endpoints.
  • Create, modify, and maintain user accounts, security groups, mailboxes, access permissions, and device access controls in Active Directory and/or Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Support Microsoft 365, Windows operating systems, common SaaS applications, engineering applications, and standard business software used by plant and office employees.
  • Perform PC imaging, software deployment, patching support, endpoint recovery, driver installation, hardware repair, and peripheral configuration.
  • Assist with server patching, health checks, event/log reviews, backup verification, antivirus/endpoint protection monitoring, and basic storage/RAID awareness.
  • Provide first and second level desktop support and assist with escalated Tier 3 troubleshooting tasks under guidance from senior IT staff.
  • Provide first level support for ERP/MRP and shop-floor systems and coordinate escalation when advanced application or vendor support is required.
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain access to network printers, Zebra printers, stand-alone printers, and related printing services.
  • Assist with basic network support, including connectivity testing, access-port coordination, wireless device onboarding, IP/printer configuration, and documentation of known network paths.
  • Create, revise, and update IT documentation, work instructions, knowledge-base articles, network diagrams/configuration notes, and user support processes.
  • Develop and maintain basic scripts to automate repetitive administrative tasks and improve support response consistency.
  • Maintain accurate IT hardware inventory and support tracking records, including tickets, assigned devices, and service actions performed.
  • Coordinate support with outside service contractors for office, server, network, printer, and shop-floor LAN equipment as needed.
  • Promote good housekeeping, cybersecurity awareness, data protection, and professional customer service in all IT support activities.
  • Perform other job-related duties as required by the IT Manager, IT Supervisor, or department leadership.
