About The Position

We are seeking a 2nd shift Jr Production Manager to work in the Blairs, Virginia warehouse. The 2nd shift Jr Production Manager will effectively manage all aspects of the production area, including helium filling, balloon production, and napkin production, ensuring operational efficiency, quality standards, and team performance.

Requirements

  • Strong overall management skills are essential, including problem-solving, production analysis, production scheduling, work process analysis, business statistics, intermediate math skills, and personnel management.
  • Ability to effectively assess departmental needs and develop short and long-term strategic plans to address those needs.
  • Strong analytical skills with a methodological approach to problem-solving and implementation.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and/or facts and recommendations effectively.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret related documents.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of functionality of production equipment, electronics, and controls.
  • Able to troubleshoot processes and machinery to maintain efficiency and production standards.
  • Ability to manage groups through project implementation.
  • Excellent follow-up and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work independently with little direction.
  • Associate degree (A.A.) highly desired; Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) preferred.
  • Three to five years’ experience in a distribution/manufacturing environment required.
  • A minimum of three years of management experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees multiple production areas and/or shifts, ensuring alignment with daily, weekly, and monthly production plans.
  • Partners with the Production Manager to translate plant-level goals into actionable departmental plans.
  • Effectively controls inventory, including inbound raw materials, waste, outbound finished goods
  • Ensures product consistently meets established quality control standards.
  • Develops, monitors, and maintains departmental standards, costs and KPIs.
  • Develops, executes, and revises departmental SOP’s to enhance quality, quantity, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintains accurate records necessary for timely reporting and compliance.
  • Complete and update work orders in warehouse management system/JDE.
  • Work with maintenance to ensure production equipment is maintained and operational to meet demands.
  • Interacts with all areas of the department to understand issues and assess needs to improve consistency and integrity of processes.
  • Responsible for daily management and supervision of departmental workforce, including providing direction, setting deadlines, and resolving problems. Administers corrective action according to company guidelines.
  • Partners with Human Resources to interview, select, and train employees to fill vacant positions.
  • Annually prepares performance evaluations for departmental staff.
  • Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills.
  • Stays current with developments within the manufacturing and distribution field and shares expertise with others.
  • Exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others and works to maintain constructive working relationships.
  • A commitment to company-wide quality and safety is required.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
