About The Position

The Production Shift Manager is responsible for overseeing all departments during their assigned shift, ensuring the smooth execution of daily operations, and addressing any issues that arise. This role involves managing productivity, quality, and safety within the shift, while supporting the Production Manager's long-term goals for efficiency and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or team members.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to multitask and solve problems effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work outside of normal business hours as required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to OSHA standards and promoting safety initiatives.
  • Manage staffing levels and coordinate with HR for recruiting and hiring as needed to meet production demands.
  • Oversee quality control processes and implement improvements as directed by executive staff.
  • Supervise and develop shift personnel, providing training and performance feedback.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities, including 5S and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues promptly to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules.
  • Communicate effectively with other shift managers and the Production Manager to ensure seamless transitions and consistency across shifts.
