About The Position

The Grace Beginnings Academy Long Term Substitute Float is a highly flexible and adaptable teacher who travels between classrooms to assist with classroom needs, break coverage, and additional support. This position is 8:30a-5:00p Monday-Thursday from September to December. The role involves creating a Christ-centered learning environment for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years, preparing and distributing snacks, filling in as a substitute, supporting teachers with breaks, assisting with bathroom breaks, diapering, rest time, and organizing/replenishing materials. The substitute teacher is also responsible for cleaning toys, dishes, and bedding, following the Director's directives to maintain high standards, and approaching behavioral issues with love, respect, and patience. Attendance at required training, staff meetings, and school community events is expected. Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices and licensing compliance is necessary.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required
  • Must meet the licensing guidelines qualification
  • Physically able to work both indoors and outdoors throughout the day
  • Able to see and hear clearly, stay at children’s level, and actively engage to ensure their safety.
  • Has a heart and mission to reach the next generation with the Gospel.
  • Can clearly articulate the Gospel to a young child.
  • Exhibits a meaningful and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior as evidenced by the manifestation of the fruit of the Holy Spirit.
  • Exhibits a lifestyle appropriate to a person in public Christian ministry by conducting life with the utmost integrity in all situations.

Nice To Haves

  • CDA, Associates or bachelor’s degree in early childhood or Elementary Education preferred

Responsibilities

  • Create a Christ-centered learning environment for children ages 6 weeks-5 years.
  • Prep, deliver, and pick-up snack and milk supplies during the day.
  • Fill in as a substitute as needed.
  • Support teachers for break coverage.
  • Additional hands to support bathroom breaks, diapering schedules, rest time, etc.
  • Assist in organizing and replenishing school wide materials.
  • Clean toys, dishes and bedding as needed throughout the week.
  • Follow the directives of the Director to maintain high standards in the school and provide a quality learning experience for the children.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, organized school and assume the responsibility to complete the duties required to maintain an orderly facility.
  • Approach behavioral issues that arise with children with Christ-centered love, respect and patience.
  • Attend all required training and staff meetings throughout the year.
  • Attend all school community events throughout the year, even if outside schedule hours.
  • Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance is an essential requirement of this position.
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice for teaching children from 6 weeks to 5 years of age.
  • Maintains licensing compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
