The Role We’re looking for a Junior Naval Architect or Naval Architectural Technologist to join our growing team in Halifax. This is an early-career role where you’ll work alongside experienced engineers and naval architects—contributing directly to real-world projects from day one. You’ll be involved in everything from design and analysis to onsite work and client deliverables, developing practical design skills across the full lifecycle of marine projects.

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in Naval Architecture or related field
  • 0–3 years of experience (new grads encouraged to apply)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (essential)
  • Familiarity with shipbuilding, construction, and repair practices
  • Exposure to Class rules and Flag State requirements (or willingness to learn)
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and attention to detail
  • Clear communication skills and ability to work in a team
  • Curious, practical, and motivated to learn by doing
  • Takes ownership and shows initiative
  • Wants to understand the “why,” not just the “what”
  • Works well with others and contributes to team success
  • Is excited to be part of a company that is growing, evolving, and building something meaningful

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Rhino and/or GHS is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Develop design and production drawings and 3D models
  • Assist with structural analysis using classification rules and first-principles calculations
  • Support stability-related work, including: Weight estimates, Lightship surveys, Inclining experiments, Stability booklets
  • Participate in vessel inspections, surveys, and Lidar Scanning as required
  • Contribute to technical specifications and engineering reports
  • Work closely with senior staff to learn how projects move from concept through to delivery
