About The Position

Join WSP's Global Mining team as a Junior Mechanical Designer and help engineer the future of mining infrastructure. This role involves contributing to projects such as underground mine backfill systems, tailings disposal facilities, and ore handling and processing plants, all aimed at supporting safer, smarter, and more sustainable mining operations. The position offers opportunities for collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, gaining field experience, and developing technical expertise on impactful local and global mining projects.

Requirements

Diploma or higher education in Mechanical Engineering Design or a related discipline.
0 to 5 years of experience in mechanical design.
Proficiency with AutoCAD and Plant3D for industrial facility and piping design.
Understanding of mechanical systems, piping layouts, and industrial plant design principles.
Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary project environments and communicate technical information clearly.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver quality work.
Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project and client sites as required.

Nice To Haves

Mining industry exposure.
Experience with SolidWorks, Inventor, Revit, AutoPLANT, Civil3D, and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

Design and develop 3D models, mechanical layouts, piping systems, and plant configurations using AutoCAD and Plant3D.
Create accurate P&IDs, isometrics, process flow diagrams, and supporting design documentation.
Support feasibility studies and detailed engineering projects with high-quality technical deliverables.
Conduct site visits to mining operations to verify existing conditions and gather field information that improves design outcomes.
Collaborate with engineers, designers, clients, and project teams to deliver integrated project solutions.
Contribute to innovative approaches that improve project efficiency, safety, and performance.
Champion WSP's strong health, safety, and environmental culture in all aspects of your work.
