About The Position

New York Edge (NYE) is the largest provider of school-based afterschool and summer programming in New York City, serving thousands of students annually across all five boroughs and Long Island. NYE also serves as a leading Community-Based Organization (CBO) in the NYC Community Schools initiative, partnering with school leadership to coordinate integrated supports such as expanded learning, family engagement, and wellness services to ensure students and families have access to comprehensive school-based resources.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree required in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with youth in educational, community-based, nonprofit, or clinical settings.
  • Strong technology and data management skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel), Google Workspace / Google Drive, Salesforce, and database management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with youth, families, school staff, and community partners.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Administer SEL pre- and post-assessments at assigned sites accurately and on schedule, and support timely, accurate data entry in partnership with the SEL Data Specialists.
  • Implement the leadership and SEL curriculum with fidelity during afterschool hours, adapting delivery to the needs of the students at each assigned site.
  • Support the external SEL and mental health referral process, connecting students and families to individual therapy, group therapy, counseling, and family resources.
  • Support the assessment of student mental health needs and help implement short-term, frequent, and strategic interventions alongside certified clinicians.
  • Partner with teachers and program staff to promote social and emotional competence and positive leadership behavior in program spaces.
  • Participate in year-round SEL professional development, reflective practice, peer coaching, and group work.
  • Apply restorative justice approaches to support student relationships, conflict resolution, and community building.
  • Other duties as assigned.
