About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the building principal, the classroom teacher is to provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth to enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

Requirements

  • Professional Educator License with and/or Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Science, and Science Endorsement or Required Endorsement.
  • Demonstrated capabilities in leadership, public and community relations, and academic competence.
  • Effective behavior management skills.
  • Ability to structure a classroom to maximize student learning.
  • Ability to establish effective communication skills with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the course outlines, curriculum, and text used.
  • Ability to perform basic math using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals consistent with the duties of this position.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions and information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to identify and define problem(s), collect and analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Maintains appropriate confidentiality.
  • Promotes a harassment-free environment.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships; demonstrates a commitment to teamwork.
  • Ability to learn and utilize office equipment, computers, and software, especially as systems are updated.
  • Ability to react well under pressure, handle and balance multiple demands at one time, work with frequent interruptions, and perform duties and tasks at expected levels of professionalism.
  • Extensive knowledge of and ability to perform duties in compliance with all district, Board, state, and federal laws, methods, requirements, policies, procedures, and activities pertinent to the duties of this position.

  • Ability to prepare and maintain accurate files and records.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Implement all district policies as they relate to the classroom.
  • Guarantee every student shall receive an equal opportunity for an education.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans for the curriculum program assigned.
  • Present subject matter following the guidelines outlined by the state and district.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect differentiation and accommodations based on the individual needs of the students assigned.
  • Use available data to drive instructional decision-making.
  • Work cooperatively with grade-level and content area teams to plan and modify curricula as needed.
  • Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to state and district requirements.
  • Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for paraprofessionals, student teachers, and volunteers, if applicable.
  • Use technology actively in the teaching and learning process.
  • Assist students in analyzing and improving methods and habits of study.
  • Continually assess student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Present a positive role model for students that supports the mission of the district and school.
  • Create an effective environment conducive to learning and appropriate physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom utilizing appropriate classroom management techniques and in accordance with district requirements.
  • Maintain professional competence through in-service professional development opportunities.
  • Requisition instructional materials and supplies as required.
  • Attend all meetings as required, such as faculty, parent-teacher conferences, etc.
  • Prepare for, conduct, and attend parent-teacher conferences as required.
  • Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the school day.
  • Administer group standardized tests in accordance with state and district testing protocols.
  • Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
  • Maintain commitment to ongoing professional development.
