About The Position

Skoda Contracting, a natural gas utility contractor, is hiring a Jr. Engineer for its construction engineering department. The position is based onsite in Beltsville, Maryland. The Jr. Engineer supports pipeline construction through field visits and recordkeeping, preparation of as-built drawings and service records, cost-estimating support, schedule maintenance, and project documentation. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

Requirements

Strong math skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Valid driver's license.
Dependable and reliable.
Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

Proficiency in AutoCAD; Civil 3D experience is a plus but not required.
A degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management is preferred.
Military-experienced candidates are encouraged to apply.
Detail-oriented, with the ability to see both the big picture and fine details.

Responsibilities

Conduct site visits during construction and maintain accurate measurements, field notes, and sketches.
Prepare main as-built drawings in AutoCAD and complete service records.
Complete internal Skoda documentation for recordkeeping, billing, and cost tracking.
Enter data in client databases, such as Maximo.
Review ETG construction documents for cost estimating and participate in takeoff meetings before projects start.
Assist with maintaining crew schedules.
Operate GPS devices to support pipeline installation tracking.
Verify on-site records to help prevent damage to existing utilities before construction.
Conduct pre-construction site visits and prepare looker reports outlining personnel and equipment needs.
Perform other duties as required to support project completion.
