About The Position

The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Keyport Division Detachment Pacific (Code 04/TDC) serves as NUWC’s forward presence across the Middle Pacific, Guam, and WESTPAC, providing site and detachment management. The detachment manages on-site operations, executes Navy program duties, oversees military personnel allowances, and acts as the command’s liaison with local installation leadership for services and support. Supported divisions include the Hawaii Fleet Test and Operational Assessment Division (Code 24), Pearl Harbor Torpedo Division (Code 34), and Fleet Technical Support Division (Code 45). Reporting to the Program Manager, the Jr. Electronics Engineer supports the technical and administrative test and evaluation (T&E) of Undersea Warfare (USW) combat systems for the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Keyport Hawaii Detachment on the Hawaii Detachments Support Services contract. This includes Combat System Sea Qualification Trials (CSSQT), Developmental Testing (DT), Integrated Testing (IT), and Operational Testing (OT) of U.S. Navy and ships and platforms. The ideal candidate has experience applying electrical and electronics engineering principles to support the research, design, testing, and evaluation of components and systems for USW combat systems (e.g., hull sonar, towed arrays, LAMPS, SVTT, auxiliary sonar). The role assists in developing test equipment, establishing testing methods and procedures, providing technical and administrative support for mission execution, and requires travel and periodic underway support aboard U.S. Navy ships for at-sea testing and evaluation activities. This position is located in Honolulu, HI.

Requirements

An active secret clearance is required to be considered for this position.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering from an accredited university required.
At least one to three (1-3) years of professional engineering experience at the entry level.
Basic understanding of electrical and electronic engineering principles, theories, and practices.
Ability to learn and apply concepts related to U.S. Navy combat systems, sonar technologies, and Undersea Warfare (USW) operations.
Proficiency with standard engineering tools such as basic CAD or simulation software.
Must possess basic computer literacy and data entry skills.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
Must possess strong time management skills.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Nice To Haves

Prior exposure to U.S. Navy shipyards, warfare centers, or defense contractor environments, particularly with AN/SQQ-89 or similar USW systems.
Familiarity with shipboard operations or test and evaluation processes.
Experience operating or supporting systems on Navy or commercial ships.
Demonstrated interest in or coursework related to acoustics, sonar, or undersea warfare systems.

Responsibilities

Assists senior engineers in the design, development, testing, and evaluation of electrical and electronic equipment and systems supporting USW Combat Systems Technical and Administrative Test and Evaluation (T&E).
Supports preparation, execution, and data collection for CSSQT, DT, IT, and OT events, including pre- and post-test activities.
Helps diagnose and resolve operating problems in USW combat systems under close supervision.
Assists with technical analysis, performance assessment, and reporting of test results.
Supports estimation of time, resources, and costs for assigned engineering tasks and test events.
Provides technical and administrative support for USW combat systems T&E activities, including documentation, data management, and coordination with government and contractor teams.
Participates in Government-provided training to qualify in Tactical Qualification System (TQS) areas.
Travels to support test events, including shipboard and underway periods, and performs other duties as assigned.
