About The Position

Presbyterian Hospitality House (PHH), Alaska's leading adolescent residential treatment program, is looking for a Jr. Accounting Specialist to join our team at our Fairbanks, Alaska location. This position is Part-Time with the option for Full-Time. The Junior Accounting Specialist is responsible for providing accurate, timely accounting and administrative support to the Finance Department. This position assists with payroll entries, receipts, deposits, expenses, allocations, vendor payments, credit card and fuel receipt documentation, program related claims and reviews, petty cash, rental payments, filing, and other routine finance functions. The Junior Accounting Specialist helps ensure transactions are properly coded, entered, reconciled, documented, and maintained in accordance with Presbyterian Hospitality House policies, generally accepted accounting practices, nonprofit requirements, and applicable state or program regulations.

Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Accurate data entry skills
  • The ability to maintain organized financial records.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • One to two years of bookkeeping, accounting support, payroll, accounts payable, or administrative finance experience preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience with QuickBooks and routine financial documentation is preferred.

Responsibilities
