About The Position

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Maintenance and repair of electrical equipment and building electrical infrastructure. Performs electrical installations under the direction of the Electrical Master of Record. Replaces electrical equipment and electrical system components. Includes performing diagnostics and repair for electrical, electronics, and mechanical systems and equipment. This position: Provides on-call support for electrical infrastructure and building equipment, i.e. frequency drives, networked lighting systems and emergency power distribution. Electrician must be proficient with digital multimeters, power analyzers, circuit tracers and other test equipment. Employee will evaluate and make recommendations on electrical loads, energy savings and power factor correction. Must provide proper evaluation and repair of electrical distribution and lighting to provide a safe environment for staff and patients. Performs testing of emergency and life safety systems to be compliant with National Electrical Code and The Joint Commission/CMS. Work time will be recorded electronically by employee in a maintenance software program to substantiate required compliance testing is completed. Performs all duties following safe electrical work practices, must be compliant with Lock-Out Tag Out, Confined Space and Arc Flash programs. Will be competent in testing three phase circuitry, will know how to test for phase failures on 13,800-volt feeds. Electrician will take Minnesota state required training to maintain their electrical license. Requires the availability to work overtime as required, overtime may be unscheduled.

Requirements

  • A two-year technical degree or an associate degree in electrical systems, construction, or a similar program focused on the maintenance, installation, and operation of building electrical systems, OR four years of electrical apprenticeship training.
  • 6 years of experience with power distribution, lighting, motor, and electrical controls.
  • Minnesota Class “A” Journeyworker Electricians license or an “A” Master Electrician license.
  • Minnesota driver’s license.
  • Proficiency with digital multimeters, power analyzers, circuit tracers, and other test equipment.
  • Competence in testing three-phase circuitry and testing for phase failures on 13,800-volt feeds.
