This position is responsible for performing duties required in the operation, maintenance, construction and repair of transmission and distribution systems. The role involves constructing and maintaining overhead and underground electric lines and equipment, inspecting existing primary and secondary power lines and substation equipment, and investigating trouble on lines to locate the cause of power outages. The Journeyworker will also maintain and operate vehicles and equipment, perform rubber glove work on energized lines from an aerial device, and work on de-energized or grounded lines or equipment. Additionally, the position requires participation in scheduled training, assisting in the training of others, and demonstrating diligence in learning and adhering to safety regulations. This role also includes responsibilities related to collecting delinquent accounts, being available for call-out duty and various shifts, and maintaining construction standards. The Journeyworker will lead or monitor job briefings, approve purchasing invoices and work orders, and focus on efficiency and cost controls to maintain a safe and reliable system. They will manage construction project completion, participate in emergency restoration, update the UC mapping system, and handle damage claims. Customer service is also a key aspect, involving resolving customer complaints and answering questions. The role includes providing guidance to employees, discussing job performance, teaching job duties and company policies, instructing and supervising subordinates in the absence of the Construction/Service Supervisor, and interpreting work procedures. The Journeyworker will also establish work priorities, coordinate activities with other departments, conduct safety meetings, operate PEC vehicles, maintain driver eligibility, and ensure the security of confidential information. Staying abreast of technological advancements and demonstrating regular attendance are also expected.
