About The Position

Finning is growing fast—and so are the opportunities! We are currently hiring a Journeyperson Welder in our Cranbrook shop. This is a permanent position with a 4x3 compressed shift, with potential to switch to a 7x7 shift. The role involves maintaining and repairing Caterpillar Construction Equipment, Mining Equipment and Expanded Mining Equipment, component rebuild and repair, and some manufacturing. Occasional work at heights and confined spaces may be required, along with frequent bending, squatting, climbing, and lifting/pushing of up to 45 pounds without assistance. The position also requires completing technical documentation and interacting with customers, sales support, and the Finning team. This is a unionized position, and terms of employment are governed by a collective agreement.

Requirements

• Journeyperson Welder Ticket with Interprovincial Certification
• Safety conscious team player with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with a high attention to detail
• Strong welding aptitude: vertical, flat, and overhead test for both SMAW and FCAW
• Ability to be fit tested and the ability to wear a respirator

Nice To Haves

• Machining experience is beneficial
• Repair welding would be considered an asset
• Strong line boring experience will be considered an asset

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair Caterpillar Construction Equipment, Mining Equipment and Expanded Mining Equipment
• Component rebuild and repair
• Some Manufacturing
• Perform routine maintenance work
• Occasional work at heights and confined spaces
• Frequent bending, squatting, climbing, and lifting/pushing of up to 45 pounds without assistance
• Complete technical documentation (service reports, warranty, crossover notes)
• Interact with customers, sales support, and the rest of the Finning team
• Work with the Service Supervisor and Leadhand on various tasks as required
