About The Position

Journeyperson Scaffold Builder erects, modifies, and dismantles various types of scaffolding systems in industrial, refinery, maintenance, turnaround, and construction environments. This role involves working from blueprints, drawings, and specifications to provide safe access solutions for employees performing work at elevated locations, while maintaining compliance with all safety standards and company procedures. The position actively supports the company's commitment to safety and its Core Values, requiring high moral standards and adherence to the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.

Requirements

  • Competent Person for Scaffolding required.
  • Thorough understanding of scaffold erection, modification, and dismantling procedures.
  • Must be able to read and interpret scaffold plans, drawings, and specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial safety standards and protocols.
  • Must demonstrate scaffold building proficiency through testing, certification, or documented experience.
  • Able to communicate clearly with team members, supervisors, and other departments about issues and solutions.
  • Knowledge of fall protection systems and elevated work requirements.
  • Experience using scaffold tools, measuring devices, and material handling equipment.
  • Complete the Company's Safety training, Process Safety Management training, and client/site-specific training.
  • Must obtain and maintain active status within the appropriate drug testing program.
  • Must pass background check.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous mining, industrial maintenance, refinery, turnaround, or heavy construction experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Erect, modify, inspect, and dismantle scaffolding systems in accordance with applicable OSHA regulations and site requirements.
  • Interpret scaffold drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to determine scaffold design and material requirements.
  • Assemble and install scaffold components including frames, braces, planks, ladders, handrails, toe boards, and access systems.
  • Conduct pre-use inspections of scaffolding and identify deficiencies requiring corrective action.
  • Select and maintain proper scaffold materials, tools, and equipment for assigned work activities.
  • Ensure scaffolding is erected to safely support required loads and intended use.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area while following all housekeeping requirements.
  • Climb ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and work from elevated or uneven surfaces.
  • Identify safety hazards employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.
  • Work well with supervision.
  • May be required to train and supervise apprentices.
  • Perform other responsibilities as required or assigned.
