Position Overview We are currently looking for a knowledgeable and skilled Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic with the primary responsibility of maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, and repair of fleet ready mix concrete trucks.

Requirements

  • Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic trade designation
  • Valid class 5 drivers license and clean drivers abstract
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs on a reoccurring basis.
  • 1-2 years of previous heavy-duty mechanical experience dealing with large fleet vehicles

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working on off-road equipment such as loaders and bobcats is an asset
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Excellent communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on fleet vehicles such as mixer trucks and concrete pumps
  • Troubleshoot and repair vehicles on site and in a shop environment based on the nature of the repair
  • Operate service truck for emergency truck repairs
  • Complete and update daily work orders
  • Review apprentice job completion and put work orders on review required
  • Go through driver DVIRs and complete work as identified
  • Communicate with mechanics from other shifts to hand off works in progress
  • Clean, maintain and secure work area
  • Participate in proper lock out procedure of the Fleet
  • Provide on the job training to new employees and guidance to apprentices
  • Use Teams chat when requesting parts and tools
  • Attend meetings and wear PPE while on site, etc.
  • Champion the safety culture at RMC including wearing PPE, following safe work procedures, identifying and correcting hazards, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned
