About The Position

Loraas Disposal North, an integrated services company providing solid waste collection, transfer, disposal, and recycling services, is seeking a Journeyman Welder to join their team in Saskatoon, SK. This role involves working on a fleet of garbage trucks, building and repairing metal containers, welding truck bodies, operating equipment, and organizing the container storage yard. The Journeyman Welder will be responsible for maintaining Loraas vehicles and equipment in safe working order, ensuring all work meets provincial and Loraas safety standards. As a condition of employment, new employees in safety-sensitive positions must pass a substance test within two weeks of their hiring date.

Requirements

Certified Welder or Fabricator (Journeyman)
3-4 years of experience as a Heavy Duty Welding
Must be able to pass all pre-employment tests
Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MMA etc.)
Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers etc.)

Nice To Haves

Commercial Driving License is an asset

Responsibilities

Build and perform repairs on metal containers
Weld trucks body
Operate equipment
Keep the container storage yard organized
Maintain Loraas vehicles and equipment in a safe working order
Ensure work performed meets all provincial regulations and standards, and Loraas safety standards
Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures
Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover and fix any flaws
