About The Position

Pape’ Kenworth is seeking a Journeyman Truck Technician / Mechanic to join their team in Anchorage, AK. This role involves working on medium and heavy-duty class 7 & 8 trucks in the shop, ensuring accurate and timely repairs to maximize customer uptime. The technician will be responsible for analyzing and diagnosing complex truck malfunctions, repairing or rebuilding various truck systems, and performing maintenance to ensure reliability and extend vehicle life. This position requires technical expertise, critical thinking under pressure, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to deliver high-quality work. The team member will work Monday – Friday, 3:30 pm – midnight.

Requirements

3 or more years of experience working on all makes and models of medium and heavy-duty class 7/8 trucks.
Experience with engine repair, electronic trouble-shooting, HVAC systems, and chassis repair.
Basic computer knowledge.
Self-motivation and assertiveness.
Ability to work under little or no supervision.
Excellent communication and customer relations skills.
Must provide own tools.

Responsibilities

Work on medium and heavy-duty class 7 & 8 trucks in the shop.
Ensure repairs are done accurately and timely.
Support customers and maximize their uptime.
Get sidelined trucks back in service quickly and correctly.
Serve as a leader for other technicians.
Analyze and diagnose complex truck malfunctions or system failures.
Determine the best course of action to return the truck to peak performance.
Repair or rebuild cabs, steering systems, engines, transmissions, axles, differentials, brakes, clutches, electrical systems, or air systems.
Maintain and service trucks to ensure reliability, minimize downtime, and extend the life of each vehicle.
Deliver work that meets the highest standards of safety and quality.
