About The Position

Performs routine and preventive maintenance and repair of MARTA buildings and support equipment. Completes inspections of equipment and replaces or repairs mechanical units. The Journeyman Support Equipment position consists of five specific functions. The requirements listed below are representative of the general essential duties and responsibilities, as well as the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for each discipline specified.

Performs routine and preventive maintenance and repair of MARTA buildings and support equipment. Performs repairs of fire lines, fans, pumps, and other support equipment located in rail tunnels. Uses a variety of tools such as jack hammers, generators, drills, compressors and/or other tools as assigned. Performs other related duties as assigned.

BUILDINGS (Summary): Performs routine and preventive maintenance and repair of MARTA’s buildings. Performs repairs and/or replaces windows, doors, locks, emergency exit gates, roll gates, floors, sheet rock walls, ceilings, ceramic tile, and plumbing systems and other buildings related tasks. Inspects and performs preventive maintenance on buildings and support equipment.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Four years of directly related work experience in facilities maintenance and repair to include carpentry, painting, plastering, asphalt and concrete work, and plumbing.
• Candidate must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures of carpentry, structural repair and maintenance.
• Current skill level will be determined by formal testing.
• Must possess and maintain a current, valid State of Georgia issued CDL license (Class A) or current, valid State of Georgia issued Commercial Driver Learner’s (CDL) Permit (Class A).
• Individuals hired with a valid State of Georgia issued Commercial Driver Learner’s Permit, must obtain a valid State of Georgia issued Commercial Driver’s License (Class A) within three (3) weeks of their date of hire.
• A minimum of two years driving experience.
• A maximum of one (1) moving violation, with a maximum of three (3) points on Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) within a 24 month period.
• No DUI violations allowed.

Nice To Haves

• External journeyman-level hires will be hired at the top rate of the current Apprentice level pay. Demonstrated ability to perform the Journeyman work will qualify the new hire to move to the Journeyman level.
