About The Position

Amentum is looking for a Journeyman Software Developer to join their growing team in Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, OH. Remote/hybrid work may be allowed, but could change to 100% on-site based on customer needs. The candidate must currently live within 1 hour of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base or be willing to relocate. The role is suitable for someone who is curious, eager to learn, and excited to build impactful solutions. The position offers hands-on experience in a supportive environment, with training in writing clean code, bug detection, and problem-solving. It is ideal for individuals who enjoy learning, skill development, and teamwork.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in related technical discipline and at least 2 years of software development experience OR a High school diploma/GED, and at least 3 years of software development experience.
At least 1 year of experience with Java development and unit/integration testing of code.
Experience with build tools, such as Ant and Maven.
Experience with CM tools, such as SVN and Git.
Must live within one (1) hour of Wright Patterson Air Force Base or be willing to relocate to the area prior to your start date.
Must be able and willing to physically exert up to 10 lbs. of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. This position is otherwise sedentary, involving sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

Nice To Haves

Experience with JIRA and Confluence.
Good oral and written communications skills with experience in delivering/presenting to the customer.
Experience with API calls.
Mobile development experience.

Responsibilities

Assist with the design, development, and engineering of software solutions using SQL stored queries, procedures, functions, views, and triggers, HTML, Java script, CSS and Java for web development.
Support development and communicate weekly status reports.
Assist in providing demonstrations of code and contributing to other team efforts whenever required.
Assist with the development of production design of requirements and Software Design Documents (SDDs).
