About The Position

Under supervision from the shop supervisor, the mechanic is responsible for performing work of considerable difficulty in the repair and maintenance of equipment. This role involves diagnosing and repairing equipment, performing plant inspections, completing road calls and field repairs, and conducting preventive maintenance. The position also requires preparing and maintaining records, operating a forklift, adhering to union contracts, maintaining an insurable driving record, and ensuring a safe work environment. The mechanic must be able to obtain a DOT medical card and utilize troubleshooting programs like Cummins Insite and Davies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Three years journeyman experience and/or two-year diesel mechanic certificate preferred.
  • Attention and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
  • Ability to work long hours.
  • Ability to move 50 pounds.
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, electronics, and familiar with components associated with them.
  • Knowledge of towing, recovery, lifting, and rigging.
  • Knowledge of conveyor systems.
  • Knowledge of fuel and fueling systems.
  • Vast Knowledge of complex electrical systems on vehicles/ equipment.
  • Must be able to obtain DOT medical card.
  • Must be able to use troubleshooting programs – Cummins Insite, Davies, ect.

Nice To Haves

  • Welding and fabrication.
  • Three years journeyman experience and/or two-year diesel mechanic certificate preferred.
  • Skilled in welding, cutting, and fabrication - a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Visualize, fulfill, and implement the company vision and core values.

  • Perform plant inspections, diagnose any problems, and perform plant maintenance.
  • Complete major road calls and perform field repairs.
  • Perform inspections and preventive maintenance of equipment.
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports.
  • Maintain tools as required to do the job.
  • Operate forklift.
  • Review, understand, and adhere to all union contracts.
  • Maintain insurable driving record.
  • Ensure a safe and healthful work environment at all times.
  • Must be able to obtain DOT medical card.
  • Must be able to use troubleshooting programs – Cummins Insite, Davies, ect.
