About The Position

Journeyman Service Technician – Union Electrician (IBEW) Position Summary We are seeking a skilled and motivated Service Technician – Union Electrician affiliated with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). This position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in commercial, industrial, and/or residential environments. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong diagnostic skills, professionalism with clients, and the ability to work independently while upholding union standards. Key Responsibilities Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and equipment Install, maintain, and service panels, breakers, transformers, lighting systems, and controls Perform service upgrades and code-compliant modifications Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings Ensure compliance with NEC, local codes, and OSHA safety regulations Communicate effectively with customers, contractors, and supervisors Document service calls, materials used, and work performed Respond to emergency service calls as required

Requirements

  • Current membership in good standing with IBEW
  • Completion of an accredited electrical apprenticeship program
  • Valid state electrical license (Journeyman or higher)
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently in the field
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols and union work standards

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of electrical service experience
  • Experience in commercial or industrial service work
  • Familiarity with motor controls, VFDs, and low-voltage systems
  • Strong customer service skills
