About The Position

The Journeyman Plumber works under the supervisor of the Facilities Manager. Assembles, installs, and repairs pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating/cooling, domestic water, and drainage systems by performing the following duties. The Journeyman Plumber will oversee the operation and safety of the mechanical systems on assigned shift, perform plumbing repairs and preventative maintenance for residential and commercial type plumbing systems throughout the hospital and other Cheyenne Regional Medical Center (CRMC) owned facilities. They will monitor and inspect facilities, equipment, and plumbing systems to determine compliance with State standards, and need for repair or upgrades. This role involves studying building plans, maintaining knowledge of the natural gas distribution system, and performing installation, operation, preventative maintenance, and repair of various plumbing/mechanical systems. The Journeyman Plumber will also assemble and install pipes and fittings, install and repair plumbing fixtures, analyze malfunctions, coordinate with outside contractors, maintain "Life Safety Systems", log and maintain records, provide support to HVAC technicians, maintain inventory, and respond to campus emergencies. Seasonal snow removal and ice mitigation may also be required.

Requirements

  • Four (4) or more years of commercial plumbing experience
  • Valid USA driver’s license
  • Must have clean driving record that follows Cheyenne Regional Medical Center’s driving guidelines
  • Current City of Cheyenne Plumber’s license within 60 (sixty) days of start date

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the operation and safety of the mechanical systems on assigned shift.
  • Performs plumbing, repairs and preventative maintenance tasks for residential and commercial type plumbing systems throughout the hospital and other Cheyenne Regional Medical Center (CRMC) owned facilities (almost exclusively located within Cheyenne city limits).
  • Monitors and inspects facilities, equipment, and plumbing systems to determine compliance with State standards, and need for repair or upgrades.
  • Studies building plans and working drawings to determine functionality of system, work aids required and sequence of installations.
  • Maintains, repairs and location knowledge of the natural gas distribution system. Potential work on air/gas and vacuum piping systems as allowed within scope of certification/licensure.
  • Performs the installation, operation, preventative maintenance, and repair of plumbing/mechanical systems, including domestic water, irrigation water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer and hydronic heating and cooling systems.
  • Assembles and installs, and repairs valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of metals, such as iron, copper, steel, brass, and lead, and nonmetals, such as glass, vitrified clay, plastic, pex, victaulic fittings, pressed and sweated copper fittings.
  • Installs, inspects and repairs plumbing fixtures and equipment, such as sinks, commodes, bathtubs, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units, dishwashers, and water softeners.
  • Analyzes malfunctions and makes repairs or adjustments.
  • Coordinates, monitors and performs installation of materials, fixtures, and equipment to plumbing systems.
  • Directs outside plumbing contractors for compliance of standards and good work practices.
  • Maintains and documents “Life Safety Systems” in domestic hot and cold potable water systems and hot and chilled water closed loops.
  • Logs and maintains records of operation, maintenance and repairs, and related reports.
  • Provides support to the HVAC technicians with respect to routine and preventative maintenance on various mechanical, related electrical equipment, Building Automation System (BAS) to include DDC and pneumatic controls in heating, cooling and refrigeration systems.
  • Maintains inventory of plumbing parts and supplies.
  • Responds to emergencies on campus related to loss of power, fire, flooding, HVAC breakdowns or safety and security actions.
  • Seasonal snow removal and ice mitigation as needed.
