About The Position

Repair, maintain, and install all plumbing in City owned and operated buildings in a safe and efficient method. This role is available for 24-hour call and involves additional duties as directed by the Building Services Supervisor. Essential functions include performing preventative maintenance, regular inspections, keeping detailed records of equipment service and replacement, replenishing supplies, responding to emergencies, maintaining equipment and materials, working with other crafts and the public, keeping vehicles clean, being punctual, applying for and pulling plumbing permits, finalizing plumbing projects, and supporting departmental operations with regular and timely attendance. The position also requires supporting the relationship between the City of Odessa and the general public through courteous and cooperative behavior, maintaining confidentiality, and performing other duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Five (5) years' experience in installation and maintenance of plumbing required.
  • Ability to read and write in English all applicable blue prints, schematics, diagrams, signs, labels, directions, reports, equipment manuals etc.
  • Ability to communicate ideas, instructions, questions, problems etc.
  • Skills in the use of all standard plumbing tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the work.
  • A valid Texas State Driver's License required.
  • A Texas State Journeyman Plumber license is required.
  • Successful completion of FBI criminal background fingerprint check in accordance with Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) standards.

Responsibilities

  • Repair, maintain, and install all plumbing in City owned and operated buildings.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and regular inspections of plumbing systems to ensure maximum efficiency.
  • Keep complete records on all major equipment service requirements and replacement records.
  • Replenish supplies when necessary to maintain adequate inventory.
  • Respond to emergency situations.
  • Maintain equipment and materials used in daily work activities.
  • Work with other crafts and the general public.
  • Keep vehicle clean and be punctual.
  • Apply for and pull plumbing permits for all associated jobs.
  • Finalize all plumbing projects.
  • Support departmental operations with regular and timely attendance.
  • Demonstrate courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and City staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality of work-related issues and City information.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.
