About The Position

The Journeyman Pipefitter will be responsible for installing, inspecting, and maintaining low and high-pressure piping systems and fixtures in various industrial settings. The candidate will utilize their expertise in reading blueprints, schematics, and maintaining compliance with safety standards and building codes. Additionally, the Journeyman Pipefitter will be expected to troubleshoot installation issues and provide effective solutions in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical specifications
  • Expertise in installing, maintaining, and repairing pipe systems and related equipment
  • Ability to work with various piping materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, PVC, poly/HDPE, copper, and various high pressure/temperature alloys
  • Adept at using specialized tools and equipment for pipefitting tasks
  • Ability to operate mechanically powered lifting equipment for both personnel and materials as trained
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers and fractions rapidly and accurately
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and precision in work
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a pipefitter
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and practices
  • OSHA 10-hour certification

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Refrigeration, HVAC and other process systems
  • Familiarity with welding techniques and equipment
  • Certification in Pipefitting by a recognized organization
  • RETA level 1 or 2 certification

Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, and maintain low and high-pressure piping systems and fixtures in industrial settings
  • Read and understand design documents, including isometric and orthographic drawings
  • Plan, lay-out, install and/or repair all types of pipe and/or similar tubular products in accordance with plans and specifications
  • Use appropriate hand and power tools to properly accurately measure, cut, assemble, and install all types of pipe and/or similar tubular products
  • Utilize all pipe fitting techniques and methods for different types of piping systems and pipe couplings including butt welded, socket welded, threaded, victaulic, grooved, soldered/brazed, glued and fused joints
  • Understand and implement lockout/tagout procedures in a safe manner
  • Follow established jobsite safety and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work area
  • Inspect subordinate's work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies and explain, and take any corrective action needed
  • Troubleshoot complex pipe systems and provide effective solutions in a timely manner
  • Other duties as assigned
