About The Position

The Journeyman Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical equipment, machinery, and facility systems in an industrial manufacturing environment. This role involves performing preventive and predictive maintenance, diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues, and installing, aligning, adjusting, and replacing machine components. The mechanic will respond to equipment breakdowns, maintain various production equipment, and utilize a range of tools and technical documentation. A key aspect of the role is ensuring compliance with safety policies and collaborating with production teams to enhance equipment reliability. The position also involves assisting with installations and upgrades, and maintaining a clean and organized work area.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Overall qualification results on a Ramsay Journeyman Exam
  • 5+ years of mechanical experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Willing and able to work overtime
  • Willing and able to be on-call on a rotation
  • Willing and able to work on weekends or Holidays if needed, in a 24/7/365 facility
  • Willing and able to work rotating shifts 7a-3p, 3p-11p, 11p-7a
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information to other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved, written or oral instructions.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and may occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical equipment, machinery, and facility systems.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to reduce equipment downtime.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic issues and implement repairs.
  • Install, align, adjust, and replace machine components and parts as needed.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and emergencies in a safe and timely manner.
  • Maintain conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes, compressors, and other production equipment.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and maintenance testing equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, equipment manuals, work orders, and technical drawings.
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, parts usage, and equipment history accurately.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies, lockout/tagout/tryout procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with production and operations teams to improve equipment reliability and performance.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and cost reduction in maintenance processes.
  • Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and facility improvement projects.
  • Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned.
  • Cleans and lubricates parts.
