About The Position

This role is responsible for manufacturing and repairing special products, including building prototypes. The Journeyman Machinist will efficiently operate all standard machine tools, make necessary mathematical calculations for setup and machining, and interpret drawings. They will use precision measuring instruments and hand tools to ensure finished workpieces conform to specifications. The position also involves assembling and disassembling precision parts and equipment, performing various types of welding (TIG, MIG, stick, and gas), metal fabrication, and reverse engineering. Additionally, the role includes designing and building tooling and fixtures, and manufacturing dies, machine tools, cutting tools, and other tools.

Requirements

  • Good mechanical skills
  • Good shop math skills
  • Basic understanding of hydraulics, electricity, pneumatics, and a familiarization with computer technology
  • Thorough knowledge of metallurgy and heat treating
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Four years journeyman level experience
  • Able to lift 35 lbs. on occasion
  • Stand for extended periods - 2 hour periods
