About The Position

Xcel Energy is seeking one or more Journeyman Linemen to be located in Greeley, CO. This role involves performing the duties of a lineman classification, focusing on overhead and underground electric distribution systems. The position requires the ability to perform strenuous outdoor work in various conditions, respond to emergency callouts, and live within 40 minutes/40 miles of the Greeley Operations Center. Applicants must be self-motivated, work well with others, possess a positive attitude, and be committed to safety and productivity. For external candidates, verification of qualifications will include written and/or practical skills evaluations.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent.
Valid Class A CDL driver’s license including a valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
Completed a qualified apprenticeship program and possess a Journeyman Lineman certification.
Willing to live within 40 minutes/40 miles of the Greeley Operations Center.
Well-rounded knowledge of distribution primary feeder circuits, transformer loading and connections, and fusing practices.
Experience with electric meter sets and their connections.
Knowledge and experience in the use of hot line tools, protective devices, fuses, lightning arresters, disconnect switches, breakers, grounding sets, transformers and their connections.
Experienced in the operation of Line Construction and Maintenance vehicles including, but not limited to, forklifts, digger-derricks, platform digger units, wire and rope tensioning units, and other similar equipment.
Demonstrate knowledge and experience in electric Distribution system troubleshooting.
Thoroughly familiar with the Safety Rules and regulations of the Company and well acquainted with the hazards involved in electric Distribution field service work.
Familiar with the use of rubber gloves, sleeves, line hose, and switching procedures, as well as in the use of PPE in accordance with Company and OSHA requirements.

Responsibilities

Perform the duties of lineman classification involving overhead and underground electric distribution systems.
Respond to emergency callouts after normal work hours and on weekends.
Perform safe, proficient, and effective pole-climbing.
Demonstrate knowledge and experience in electric Distribution system troubleshooting.
Be thoroughly familiar with the Safety Rules and regulations of the Company and well acquainted with the hazards involved in electric Distribution field service work.
Be familiar with the use of rubber gloves, sleeves, line hose, and switching procedures, as well as in the use of PPE in accordance with Company and OSHA requirements.
